I've only played few console games because my parents never supported gaming, but it doesn't hinder me to find games in PC. I also didn't have the budget to buy PC games so I resorted into playing MOBAs such as Dota 2 and League of Legends. I've played Dota 2 first and even got it when I still have to get a Beta Key just to play it. After a lot of time playing, I realized I could bet my items and win more. Win after win, along with trading, I got more and more items, but a tragedy happened when I put my item of highest value into bet and lost. I got so desperate to get it back by betting my other high-value items that only lead to further losses.
I got so saddened by what happened that I decided to change game, and that's when I first played League. League was amazing. The ambience of the game is 'lighter', the gameplay is more comprehensive and it's also friendly for starters, unlike Dota 2 in which you really have to walk and learn by yourself. I can't blame Dota 2 because it really is a complicated game and tutorials will never be enough in learning it. What's good in League is that I don't have to worry in betting my skins because it can't be gambled. Another thing I looked into is that the skins in League is is like a full package already, unlike in Dota 2, where you can only acquire a part of the whole costume (although you can also get the full set but you know what I mean). Plus, it's easier to play League because 'metas' are stricter in this game. If I don't follow its supposed path (for example, I'll build atk dmg items on a mage), I'll be having a hard time playing.
I played League for almost a year and a half, and I started to get bored because I don't feel anymore the thrill of betting. Also, I get more hyped in playing Dota than LoL (I don't know why, maybe because the gameplay is much more dynamic) so I switched back to Dota 2 a few months ago and been playing ever since. Although the feeling of the lost Arcana is still lurking within me, I could never replace the feeling of home, and that home is Dota 2.
