Anime characters with hair covering their eyes

I don't really get why mangaka's draw them in the first place.
I don't know anyone who covers their eyes in real life with their hair....so...may be that might be the reason why I feel that it's not a good thing.

So, what do you guys think?

Even in diamond no ace there is such character.

There must be a fanbase out there for studios putting in such characters.

It can turn into a plot twist, for example because he is blind or has eye damages.
