We often discuss anime series here, but we don't discuss much about movies.

So anyone here watch many anime movies? If so what have you seen?

I recently wanted the new Captain Harlock movie off netflix and was pleased with how it turned out compared to the old version.

Well the Ghibli ones are anime movies that anyone MUST see. I still have a couple to left to watch myself, but I will eventually (recently watched Ponyo again).

Others I've watched are:

  • Summer Wars
  • The Girl That Leapt Through Time
  • 5 Centimeters Per Second
  • Wolf Children
  • Sword of the Stranger

Then of course there were anime series that got a movie. Those I watched were:
  • One Piece
  • Naruto
  • Bleach
  • DBZ
  • Blue Exorcist
  • Steins;Gate
  • AnoHana
  • Ah My Goddess
  • Toaru Majutsu No Index
  • Gintama
  • Ghost in the Shell

And thats just a part of my list. Would take to much time to remember them all xD

I need to finally watch this when I get the chance, I'm a huge Harlock fan and now that the newest movie is on Netflix I have a way to watch it.

But recently as far as anime movies goes I have watch Akira and Spirited Away.

As far as i can remember.

However it was not scary at all compared to RE movies and that's why i did not like it.

@WildFire I saw that on TV :3 I don't think Resident Evil in general is scary :/

I've seen all of the Naruto and Naruto Shippuden movies except for the latest one. I started the Fate/Stay Night movie but quickly dropped it.

the unlimited blade works stay night movie? It's pretty good towards the end but the up coming anime season looks to make it perfect.

Yeah. It had a lot of stuff from the anime episodes and I know the movie has some different things, but I just couldn't watch it :/

Seems anime movies don't line up with some of the show's time lines at all.

Dragon Ball Z does this a lot with their movies. Nothing is ever really taking place after a certain season because either Goku is gone for a long period of time. Season 3 and Season 4 are great examples because thats when a lot of the movies started, like Cooler's Revenge. That movie was pretty off topic.

I'm pretty sure none of the DBZ movies fit in the plot line, heck some of them don't match up at all.

I've seen all the Death Note movies, though they aren't anime, just based on one. Not sure if that counts here?

Seen all the Naruto and Naruto Shippuden movies, seen some of the DBZ movies, watched the Samurai X movie (which is total garbage, if you like Samurai X don't ever watch the movie that supposeably continues the story). I've seen a few not based on anime series at all like Princess Mononoke, the Amitage III OVAs (OVAs count as movies right?) , Vampire Hunter D, Blood: the Last Vampire (which had an anime based on it), and probably more.

I started watching the Code Geass OVAs, of which two are done and two are yet to come, I think the next one will be released next month.

I've probably forgotten a lot that I have seen but these came to mind first.

Are the CG OVAs any good?

The first two I seen got me interested in the story so I was disappointed that only two were done. It's good as far as I can tell although it's not quite like the original series. Zero, or someone that looked like Zero showed up so not sure where that is going as that was like the last minute of OVA 2. I really want to see where the story goes.

I think I've watched most of the Ghiibli films, although I know there are a few I haven't gotten around to yet. Those are of the main ones I've seen. I have watched those over, and over again. There have been a lot more I've seen, but my most recent have been Children Who Chase Lost Voice, and Captain Harlock, that was a good one. I haven't seen the anime yet, but I'd like to at some point.
