I've been contemplating about starting a blog about stuff like playing Black Desert Online Remastered, what anime I watch and what manga I read, you know typical otaku stuff. If you guys have recommendations, had written a blog before and/or currently managing one, help out a brother please.

I own the blog Kodi Beginner which is based on WordPress.
I can tell you that writing a blog is really fun and I enjoy it.
What you write the blog about depends on the subjects you like and enjoy writing about.
No one can tell you what to write about besides yourself.

If you have any questions I will be happy to assist.

I recommend Google Blogger (which I also use [see my blog for example] ) if you want ad free and easy to start. Wordpress on .com has ads if you'll choose the free plan. But on .org prepare to pay $8 a month for hosting and $11 on your domain.

Also try visiting Gaming Reinvented as Gaming Latest partner.

I'd recommend downloading WordPress and running it on a standard hosting account. That way, you get to customise anything you want about the blog, and you'd not restricted by any rules in regards to freedom of speech or making money from ads.

I used to write fanfiction (and I guess one or two became official lore) for games I played before. So yeah I was really passionate about it. That was until I had writer's block and I couldn't write something I am satisfied with or I couldn't express it. You could say I lost my muse. That was years ago. Right now I feel that I can write about something about again, Black Desert Online particularly, as well as some anime I have grown to love very much.

I've heard about WordPress from a friend before but never got to checking it out. It's good to know there are no restrictions with it.

Seems like a good plan :)
When do you plan to start writing?

I own and manage VGR.com which is Wordpress based. Wordpress is free and highly customizeable. I think 90% of all websites are Wordpresss based. Highly recommended.

This is less common for non-organisation websites owned by people locally, but those sites are either made from scratch, or hosted at Livedoor.
While WordPress did mature a lot, maintenance can become difficult it it's around for a very long time (based on own experience back in 2012).

If you don't have the money or don't want to spend it, you can start a free blog with a sub domain at wordpress.com. When you feel like expanding, you can export the content, set up a wordpress site on a new host for self-hosted wordpress and import the content back into the new install.

But for starting out and just to see if you don't just drop the idea after a month, I'd recommend kicking things off with a free blog.

Wordpress.com has a lot of limitations but once you get comfortable with what you can actually do, you can look into what is offered when you go self-hosted.. like you can install any plugin, get access to more wordpress themes, etc.

I think WordPress is currently the best blogging software choice for most people because it still have an active community of developers who release updates for it, and it is not as hard to use compared to Joomla and Drupal in my experience.
