Apple
introduced earlier this year its new game subscription service, Apple Arcade. It's basically a subscription-based bundle of premium games from both independent developers and large studios, though its cost has remained unknown since its announcement.
A new report from 9to5Mac now suggests a possible price for the subscription bundle. According to the news outlet, Apple Arcade could cost $4.99 per month, plus a one-month free trial. The figure remains unconfirmed, however, and may change when Apple finally rolls out the service.
The Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to release Apple Arcade to consumers on September 10, during which time the
next-generation iPhone series is also rumored to debut. The service will go live across more than 150 countries, and members in a Family Sharing account will also have access to it at no extra cost. It will include more than 100 exclusive games including original titles from Ken Wong and Will Wright, among other game creators.
These titles will be available to iOS, Mac, and Apple TV users via the App Store for a flat monthly rate. In addition, game features, content, and future updates can be accessed by consumers at no extra cost.
Apple Arcade's price will likely be officially revealed in the fall. For now, the report about its pricing should be taken with a pinch of salt.
