Pour one out for the OG iPad Mini, as Apple has just removed it from its website and online store. It proved Apple could effectively build a smaller tablet, though its low-resolution (1024 by 768) display doesn't hold a candle to the sharp Retina screens we're used to today.

Crazy, that the iPad Mini is still on sale until recently. The iPad Mini 1 was released in 2012 which makes it over 3 years old. I think most Apple iPad mini buyers would buy the iPad Mini 3 or older Mini 2 to save $100 or more, but still have decent performance, and a high resolution touchscreen for a cheaper price than the Mini 3.
Small tablet buyers can now buy a lot of cheaper small sized Google Android, Windows, and Linux based tablets which can do almost everything a iPad Mini can do, and more more since Windows and Linux based tablets can run PC Games, use different desktop programs and hardware like Firefox, Filezilla FTP client, print documents from a USB Printer, scan documents with a USB scanner, and use an external USB webcam which is sometimes higher quality than some front cameras on tablets.
Most Windows, Android, and Linux based tablets also has a MicroSD slot for adding more storage, and a Micro-HDMI port to connect to a bigger monitor, or TV for viewing video on a bigger screen. Some tablets also have a full size USB port, so you don't need a Micro-USB to full size USB port for plugging in USB accessories like Flash drives, printers, scanners, etc.
There are also a lot of custom roms which are based on Android which make cheap tablets run a lot faster because they don't come with bloatware, and the settings, apps, and codes are tweaked for better performance.
I think many Windows tablets can also dual-boot Linux based operating system like Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian, and Google Android which is based on Linux.
