Archos 80 Cesium tablet features an 8 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, an Intel Atom Z3735G Bay Trail quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.

It has a microSD card slot for up to 128GB of removable storage, features a 2MP rear camera and 0.3Mp front-facing camera, a 4000mAh battery, WiFi and Bluetooth and a micro HDMI port.

When Archos first introduced the tablet in August the company said it’d be coming soon for $149. But now that HP, Toshiba, and a number of other companies offer Windows tablets for $100 (or less), I wouldn’t be surprised if Archos decides to cuts the price a bit before selling the Archos 80 Cesium.

This does look like a pretty good affordable 8 inch Windows 8.1 tablet I like that it comes with a Quad-core CPU, and the MicroSD card slot can use cards which are 128GB in size, and it has a micro HDMI port for connecting to a monitor or TV.

Is anything below 2gb of RAM really that good for anything other than viewing websites or creating documents?
I used Windows 8.1 on an older Desktop with 1GB of RAM, 1.8GHz Dual-core Intel Core2Dou, Nvidia GT620 1GB video card, and 320GB hard drive. It is usable as long as I didn't open too many big programs like MS Word, Excell, Powerpoint, video and picture editors, and other big programs at the same time. I mainly used the PC for watching videos, browsing the web with Firefox, office work, and other basic stuff. Surprisingly, It plays HD 1080P video good on website video players on sites like YouTube, and standalone Windows based media players like VLC, SPlayer, and Media Player Classic. I even used the computer to edit pictures with Gimp and Paint.net Image editor, and  edit 720-1080P videos with Windows Live Movie Maker, and it ran okay as long as I don't have other big programs open at the same time.

But, 1GB is not very good for playing bigger file sized Flash games with more animation like Farmville, Cityville, and Fishville on Facebook, Runescape on high video settings. 1GB also can't run most PC Games made for Windows 7-8.1. But, I could play some of the newer games like Gameloft Asphalt 8 Racing, Jet Pack Joy Ride, and a 3D Pinball game from the Windows 8.1 Store with only 1GB of RAM as long as I close all my other programs before I open the game.

Wasn't 1GB of RAM the max for XP? Yeah, everyone should have at least 4GB by today's standards.
The max amount of RAM for 32bit XP is 4GB because 32Bit operating system only support 4GB of RAM. I read on blogs and forums that there is a hack/mod to make 32bit XP use more than 4GB of RAM.

There is also a 64bit version of XP which let you use over 4GB of RAM, and run 64bit code on newer 64bit CPUs.

I think 2-3GB of RAM as a standard for cheap computers in the $99-199 price is still reasonable if you just use your PC for browsing the web, office work, watching video, editing short video clips, playing older PC games like Warcraft 3, Starcraft, Counter Strike, and other older games, and software titles like Office 2003.
