Are Alternative Console Less Popular because they don't have Disc drives?

I think one of the reasons that Alternative consoles like the Ouya, Steam Machine, and Windows 10 based PC consoles are less popular because they don't have internal disc drives. Some people may think a console without a disc drive is less useful for them.

The Steam Machine and Ouya may attract more gamers if it has a disc drive.

A lot of people still watch DVD and Blu-Ray disc movies, and occasionally listen to Music CDs.

A disc drive could come in handy for transferring files like music and game installer files, and emulating older disc games like Dreamcast, Playstation 1, Wii, PS2, and Xbox games on alternative consoles like the Steam Machine.

I agree cartridge still dominate. But, the smaller cartridges are easy to lose.

But, disc drives may attract some users who don't own a DVD or Blu-Ray player. I think the PS3 was more attractive to some people because it can play Blu-Ray movies, so some people who need a Blu-Ray player will be more likely get a PS3 instead of an Xbox 360 which can only play DVD movies.

There are also bags and protective cases which can hold many cartridges.
