Are paid mods making a comeback?

On Steam, anyway?

Because I've heard rumours that Valve is reconsidering them, and that there's evidence that such things are planned for Steam in future.

But what do you think? Could we see paid mods again? Or did the backlash kill any chances of that for good?

I hope not, the first try out was a horrible failure and if these people really need money, I'm sure they could ask for donations or support pages.
