Are people replacing computers like replacing appliances when they break or can't be fixed anymore?

Yes, I think a lot of people are replacing computers only when computers break, can't be fixed at a cheap price, or they need a more powerful PC or more storage space like how people replace appliances like microwaves, fridges, and toasters where most people replace them when they break, and can't be fixed easily.

I still see a lot of people use Windows XP, and Vista on their older computer and laptop which is still good enough for doing stuff like Facebook, watching video, music, casual gaming/flash gaming, powerpoint presentations, web browsing, e-mail, typing essays for english, social studies, and other writing related courses.

Some people also install Linux OSes on their older computer to make it run faster because Linux can run on computers with 1GHz or slower CPU, 384MB RAM or less, and 5GB or less ram like PuppyLinux which can run on a lot of older PCs, so Linux can extends the usable life of a PC.

Windows 8 is also more lightweight than Windows 7, and can be installed on a PC with a 1GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 20GB hard drive, so 8 can also make the usable life of slightly older PC longer without any upgrades to the RAM, and other parts.

I think a lot of people who own appliances like coffee makers can replace bad parts as well since a lot of stores also sell replacement parts for common appliance parts like the glass coffess mug, and electrical cords for hot water kettles for peopple to replace on their own when they break or lost.

I notice a lot of parts for older PC these days are kind of expensive because almost no company makes them anymore, so they become antiques, and antique PC collectors are willing to pay more for old parts to make their antique computer functional again, or the few people who need a old part for their older computer are willing to pay more for them, or make higher bids on them on eBay.

As there become more antique computer and electronics collector, I think the price for older parts would be more expensive like how game console collectors spend a lot for older consoles like the Nintendo, and Super Nintendo.
