Are smart monitors like Amazon Echo Show are not as useful as a desktop PC?

I feel a desktop PC with a wireless microphone or headset can be more useful than smart displays like the Amazon Echo Show where you can just use Amazon services like Alexa, and Apps from the Amazon App store.

But, with a desktop PC, you can pick your own operating system like Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS, and you can also use a lot of software including voice to speech, and home automation software. Plus, there are more games, apps, and software for PC.

I wouldn't find them useful at all.

I think the smart monitors could be somewhat useful for using as a remote desktop device for remotely logging into a PC connected to the internet. But, connecting a keyboard and mouse is required on a smart display to make remotely logging into a computer easier rather than using a touchscreen, and voice commands.

But, using a cheap laptop or PC would be more affordable, convenient, and reliable for remotely logging into a computer using a remote desktop program or SSH/Secure Shell.

Plus, there is always a chance that these smart monitors' OS and remote desktop apps are not very secure, and you end up leaking your password and username when using a remote desktop app on a smart display.
