I like the old donation messages where there was a bearded man who is Jimmy Whales the founder of Wikipedia asking for donations during christmas.

But, the new text donation messages with a bright yellow background with bolded black text looks ugly. I sure Wikipedia gets more donations, but it is hard to look at, and read.

It's why I go to fan run wikia page. You don't see any of that crap on the wikia sites.

They're yellow for a reason?

Oh, right they want me to pay attention....or somethi--

BUTTERFLY!!!!

lol, usually the links in the article distract me.

I've also noticed that there not showing how much they collected or how much left is needed this year. Suspicious if you ask me.

So, I'm not the only one who thought something was off this...

I think its a combination of greed and desperation this time.

I find it kind of gredy that Wikipedia is asking for $3 from readers in the message instead of $1-2 from all its reader in the message, and Wikipedia says the average donation is $30 on the yellow message which sound kind of high since I got a feeling most people who donate will donate a lot less, or might donate more because they read the average donation is $30 on the yellow message on Wikipedia.

Wikipedia collected so much money over the years, and people can donate year round which might be enough to pay the bills even without asking for donations during the holidays.
