No, I do not think video call job interviews are fair because some people still use 5 Mbps or slower internet connections like dial-up, slower DSL and cable internet plans, and ISDN, so people who use slower internet connections will have slowdown problems related to video and audio quality.
Their connection also might get overloaded, and disconnect from the video call causing them to lose their chance of getting a job.
Plus, a lot of people have slow computers, and low-quality webcams which can affect their video call quality, and lower their chances of getting a job because of the low quality video caused by a slow computer, and low quality webcam.
There is also a chance the employer does not want to hire the job seeker because of the appearance of their room like the color of their wall and windows because they can see the persons room background during a video call.
The interviewer can also find out where someone lives by looking up the I.P. address of the video call, so he may not want to hire people from poorer neighborhoods, and he is also invading a person's privacy by tracing the location of the job seeker's video call's I.P. address.
Job interviews with video calls can also cost the job seeker a lot of money if they use a Cellular Data Plan internet or limited/capped internet plan to make a video call because Limited ISP can charges many dollars per MB once you go over your bandwidth limit which can happen during video calls since video calls use a lot of bandwidth.
There is also the cost of electricity for the computer, internet modem/router, and room lighting which cost the job seeker money to use.
