Possibly, more people seem to be using laptops, all-in-one pcs, tablets, smaller desktops, smartphone, ereaders, portable video players with app support, and tablets to do most of their everyday tasks to save desk space on their desk, work away from home and the office like at the park while saving some money on their electricity bills since laptops and small devices uses less power.
Some computer news claims we are in the "Post PC Era" where fewer people will only use full sized tower PCs now, but also use all their devices like tablets, phones, and video players to access their information, apps, games, pictures, and more.
I most likely switch to a smaller sized PC as my next PC if the price is hundreds of dollars lower then a tower PC, and have the speed, functions and features I need in a PC. The Tower PC is also kind of heavy like those old tube monitors, and take up a lot of space on my smaller desk.
I got my laptop for free from a relative who switched to a Apple MacBook Pro laptop. My laptop can do almost all of my daily tasks I usually do on my desktop, but I just use my desktop since it still works, and connected to wired internet instead of wireless which is a little bit slower. Plus, my laptop is located in another room away from my room.
True, a Smartphone, tablet, Ultra-book slim laptop, and slim/mini PC are all smaller versions of PC, but your average computer users think of mobiles as Post-PC mobile devices, and a PC as a Full Tower or a Half-Tower sized computer you put below your monitor, or beside it.
I read Tablets like the iPad, etc are being used 82 percent of the time at home
(43 percent) of those surveyed now spend more time with their tablet than they do with their desktop or notebook computer, and 77 percent spend less time on their notebooks or desktops than they did before getting a tablet.
I think for most people who don't work with computers where they need a keyboard and mouse like a computer programmer, graphic designer, secretary, or video editor, etc, a Tablet could be the primary computer which people use when they are at home, and just want to go on Skype, YouTube, NetFlix, and other apps and sites which are not keyboard and mouse intensive.
I agree for Hardcore Gamers, and even Casual Gamers who play The Sims and other keyboard and mouse intensive games, the Tower PC will still be the main computer for gaming and other tasks.
