The Armored Core series has been stuck in port hell over the past year as From Software released the past lineup of titles on the Japanese PSP. It appears that this was all just a build up to the game fans have been waiting for: AC5.
Armored Core 5 saw formal announcement over the weekend at a Tokyo tournament for Armored Core Silent Line Portable, one of those many PSP port projects. Series producer Toshifumi Nabeshima took the stage towards the end of the event and announced that the title is in development for Japanese release some time this year. He did not share a platform or even content details, but did promise a "different form of mech action."
There may be somewhat of a hint to the game's platform, though. Nabeshima also announced that the upcoming Armored Core Last Raven Portable will include a download code of some form for the new game. This seems to suggest that the new title will either be for the PSP, or for the PS3. And, of course, if it's for the PS3, a 360 release would also be likely given From's muliplatform history.
