I think all those good sales on Steam, GOG, and other PC gaming websites convince people to play games on PC rather than Game consoles where new games cost $60-70, and used and older games can cost $20-30 and more.

There are also a lot of popular free games like League of Legends and Dota 2 which are only available for PC.

A Gaming PC is also more useful than a regular $500 pre-built computer and most game consoles which is usually not fast enough to play games in 4K or high quality video modes.

If you want to play games on a 4K TV, or 4K monitor, you need to build a very powerful gaming PC, or spend a lot more money buying a very expensive Pre-built Gaming PC.

Hrmm, seems kind of conflicting as you think PC gaming would go along the lines of normal PC sales.

I think Normal PC sales just count fully assembled PC made from companies like Apple, Asus, Lenovo, etc. But, Gaming hardware counts individual parts like videocards, RAM, soundcards, Gaming Keyboard and Mouse, CPU, motherboard, and PC cases, and fully assembled Gaming PCs.

A lot of those Gaming video cards, Keyboards and mouse can cost hundreds of dollars which help the Gaming Hardware category earn a lot of money.
