Ubisoft announced two new modes for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey today: a Story Creator Mode and a Discovery Tour.

Story Creator Mode is a free quest-creation tool that is starting its open beta today. It allows players to create their own stories and play quests created by other players. Quests made in the mode are available cross-platform on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Based on the story-designer tools and branching dialogue systems used in Odyssey, it lets players write their own stories accompanied by gameplay. Players can mix and match six quest objectives, like freeing or assassinating targets and going to specific locations. They can create branching narratives with multiple outcomes, and have access to several historical characters from the game to retell historical events. Players can also define role-play options in the dialogue system, which includes lying to or attacking NPCs.

To access stories from this mode, players must own a copy of Odyssey and to create a story of their own, players need access to a PC version of the game.

On top of this, Ubisoft announced Discovery Tour: Ancient Greece. Here, players can walk the streets of Athens, mingle with its inhabitants, discuss politics with Sokrates and Perikles and more as a sort of living museum, free from conflict and gameplay constraints. This concept was introduced in Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Players can meet legendary historical tour guides like Leonidas, Herodotos, and more, test their historical knowledge at the end of each tour, unlock 35 unique avatars and 15 mounts to free-roam the entire map. Five different themes can be discovered: philosophy, architecture, daily life, war and myths. This mode will be free for all Odyssey owners, or can be purchased as a standalone experience on PC when it comes out this fall.
