If you’re still wondering if the ASUS X205TA is worth your buck, I’ll bring to your attention the fact that BestBuy is currently selling the notebook for as little as $99 / €78.

Yes, you heard me right. For the same price, you could be getting the HP Stream 7 or Toshiba Encore Mini tablets, but if your heart is set on a laptop, you’d better go grab this now, while the notebook is still in stock.

To remind you, the ASUS X205TA is an 11.6-inch device coming with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution that draws power from an Intel Atom quad-core processor fitted with 2GB of RAM.

This does look like a good laptop for $99. I'm surprised that it has a 11.6 inch screen, Quad-core CPU, and 2GB of RAM instead of 1GB of RAM like Windows 8.1 tablets in the $60-125 price range.

I think this also proves that the average buyer does not want a Windows 8.1 computer, and computer makers like Asus, Acer, HP, and Dell basically have to sell their Windows 8.1 computers for extremely low prices like $60-200 to get people to buy a computer with Windows 8.1 like how a lot of smaller Google Android smartphone makers like Motorola and Xiaomi sell their smartphones for lower prices to compete with Apple's iPhones, and more popular Android phone makers like Samsung, or Google's Nexus brand of Smartphones which are made by LG, and Motorola.

This laptop is not the fastest, and best laptop, but it has long battery life of up to 12 hours  according to its laptop model website because of the smaller 11.6 inch screen, Intel Atom Quad-Core CPU,  Intel HD Graphics, 2GB of RAM, and uses a 32 GB eMMC SSD Flash Memory. It also does not get very hot because it uses an Intel Atom CPU, Intel HD Graphics, and SSD, so it is also fanless. There are not a lot of cheap Laptops which have up to 12 hours of battery life.

I bet opening files and programs are pretty fast because it uses a eMMC SSD for storage instead of a slower spinning mechanical hard drive which is found on most average price laptops.

It is also a good deal for $99.

I agree this would be good for taking to school where stuff gets dropped a lot since this has a SSD, so the drive won't break as easily during drops like regular spinning hard drives, and I bet the 12 hours of battery life can be extended to 13-14 if you tweak the settings, startup programs, background services, and theme of Windows, and also use lightweight software like Kingsoft Office free, Abiword, media player classic, and SlimBoat web browser which use less RAM, CPU, and hard drive space than other similar software.
