Asus thinks it can do better: the company has just unveiled a smartphone with a whopping 256GB of built-in storage.

Asus unveiled the new Special Edition phone in Brazil. It’s not clear if or when it will be available in other markets or how much it will cost. But the company also recently introduced a Zenfone 2 Deluxe with 128GB of storage which is expected to sell for about $360 in India. That model will also be available in Brazil (for a higher price).

For the most part, the additional storage is the only thing that sets the Zenfone 2 Deluxe line of phones from the original Zenfone 2. Other features remain pretty much the same, including a 5.5 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, an Intel Atom Z3580 processor, 4GB of RAM, 13MP rear and 5MP front cameras, Android Lollipop software, and dual-SIM support.

256GB of space is a lot of space which sounds great for people who play a lot of games, watch a lot of movies, and listen to a lot of music on their phone.

I like it better if they tried to top ASUS and bring out 1 TB. It's really needed by today's standards.

I agree, hopefully there would be more companies which release smartphones with 1TB or more storage.

I like it better if there was a smartphone where I can buy my own storage like memory card, SSD, mini-hard drive of any size, and use a USB Flash drive, or a MicroSD Card to install the operating system on a phone.

cell phone companies don't like giving that much freedom.

I agree most cell phone companies won't want to give so much freedom because people will get a huge memory card, or SSD, so many people won't buy new phones as much because they still have a lot of free space.

I know many aren't happy that they are removing SD cards from the phones.

I agree, I know many who are unhappy smartphone makers are removing MicroSD from phones.

Hopefully, smartphone makers don't get rid of the MicroUSB port which lets users plug-in a small MicroSD Flash drive to add more storage.
