After 20 years of no consoles, Atari will finally launch a new one and will be named Atari VCS.

Atari unveiled the console's name today alongside two controller prototypes and an official logo. The first controller is a joystick reminiscent of the Atari 2600's, while the second resembles a modern Xbox controller, complete with asymmetrical analog sticks and ABXY buttons. A preorder date for Atari VCS will be revealed in April.

The question is, is anybody going to care? What Atari needs is games. Sure, they might get third parties on board, but what about their first party IPs? Third party won't sell consoles because you can get third party games on Xbone and PS4, and some of them on Switch. I guess they could revive some of their old old titles. That could be interesting.

I think this Atari console can be a good collectors item for Atari fans if it comes with a lot of pre-loaded Atari classic games, and other classic games from other classic consoles. It is difficult for less tech savvy users to find legal non-pirated Atari games, and the console to play the games with.

I like the case design of the Atari VCS console, and it cost $250 to $300 according to The Ataribox gets an official name, with preorder date to be announced in April which is a okay price for a new console.

But, the Linux-OS on the Atari VCS may limit its success if people can't dual-boot Windows which has more games like League of Legends, Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Rocket League which has a lot of players.

Retro gaming consoles like the NES mini, Super Nintendo Mini, and unofficial Raspberry Pi consoles which look like the NES and Gameboy are popular where they have a lot of people who bought or made one.

If there are still a lot of classic Atari fans, this console may have a lot of buyer. But, I think Atari need to convince the original Atari owners, game makers, and staff to promote this console, so more people don't think this is a cheap knock-off of the original Atari console which people have good memories of playing in the past.

Well the Atari name does hold some weight to it, the console could do better than the Oyua.

I think Atari may do better than Ouya because Atari has a iconic name in the video game industry. Atari has many followers on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other social networks, so many people will know about Atari releasing a console after they post about it on their social networking profile pages, websites, blogs, etc.

Atari also has been around for a long time, so they most likely have a lot of people sign up for their e-mail newsletter, RSS blog subscription, and other sites they own.

A lot of people may buy this console to buy mainly the games which are hard to buy.
