News of the Backbone One was released on the PlayStation blog July 28th with plenty of enticing details about the upcoming officially-licensed controller by PlayStation, including the fact that its availability for purchase will be extremely widespread, including the US, Canada, Mexico, the UK, and all across Europe to name a few locations. Further details regarding the Backbone One include the fact that it will not require a charger, as it’s powered by the user’s phone, and that the design draws inspiration from the PS5, which means that it fits the aesthetic that some gamers enjoy having across their playable resources.
There will also be a Backbone One app that will allow users to see PlayStation-specific data as well as all the games available for play. Users will need to keep in mind that a console will be required if they’re choosing to stream games to their phone to be able to use the Backbone One using PlayStation Remote Play.
Looks nice, but the cost to get everything to use it would be a bigger hurdle for those without. I like the feature though, acting like a secondary screen that's more versatile, but would require high speed internet or to be close by I would assume.
I own the Nvidia Shield Gaming tablet, and Shield gaming controller. I use the controller to play Mobile racing, shooter, action, and RPG games. Using the controller is better than using touch screen game controls.
Plus, I don't have to deal with the heat from the screen when using a controller. The touchscreen gets somewhat hot when playing games for a longer amount of time.
I also won't drop the tablet when I have it in a stand, and using a controller to play games.
