Best video game-based movies?

It's movies based off of our favorite games, and almost every time, they suck. So, what is, in your opinion, the best video game movie?

And no, you are not allowed to choose any of the animated pokemon movies, as we all know they would probably be the winners.

I might say the Mortal Kombat film.
 
Mortal Kombat is my favourite, it was an adaption done properly.

A lot of them are done really badly but I still find them enjoyable because everything just turns ridiculous or funny. Super Mario Bros and Street fighter films are examples.

Super Mario Bros. As a video game movie it sucks, but as a movie in general, it's actually not that bad.
 
I really like the Prince of Persia Sands of Time movie. It had good action, humor, and I think it captured the game pretty well.

Forgot to mention this one. I enjoyed this, but if your new to the series it may have been very confusing. I like how accurate some of the characters are in appeareance (like some cosplay)

I completely disagree. Farah was completely changed in personality as well as looks. The Prince couldn't even run up "the third step" of a wall so that killed most of the theatrics the movie should have been based around. The story arch was WAYYYYYYY off from the original PS2 game. They changed the origin of The Prince, added characters that had no purpose being added and just generally made a mockery of one of my favorite PS2 games.The only positive thing I can say is they cast a perfect look-alike to play The Prince.

For me it would be Silent Hill. Other than making the main protagonist the mother rather than the father, it was very well made and VERY close to the first games with the exception of absolutely ZERO mention of Walter Sullivan in EITHER of the two movies.
 
Yeah I agree that it wasn't very spot on with the game. I chose it though because it was more entertaining to watch then the rest of the video game movies in my opinion. I've never watched the Silent Hill movie but my brother has. He said it had good acting and action in it. I may have to give it a watch one day.

The very first Resident Evil was good as well (since it was written with the concept being it would be canon with the games) but the ones that follow were crap (except the one recreated scene in the last movie that was based off an exact scene from RE5) because they ruin the series completely.
 
Yeah I have watched a few of the newer Resident Evil movies and they just didn't do it for me. I'll have to try the first one sometime.
 
The Ratchet and Clank movie is coming out next year, I can't wait to watch it. But so far I don't think I've seen any except for Wreck-it Ralph.
