It seems like one of the biggest game publishers out there is bringing back the idea of paid mods. After their first unsuccessful attempt to deliver this service to their fans, it seems like this time they’ll finally have the odds in their favor, and will be trying to do it in the form of a Creation Club, a platform where modders will be able to sell their mods for Skyrim and Fallout 4.

Nice, should be good for mod makers.

Well, good for the mod makers and bad for us consumers, especially if you hate spending money like me, haha. I do admit that some mods do deserve to get paid for though. The amount of time and creativity it takes to create and polish these mods is really a lot.

What I wonder though is will the mod creators be able to just set the price themselves? I imagine some of them will want a lot of money for low-quality mods? Or maybe they will develop a system where only certain ones get to be on this ''paid list''. I don't know but it will be interesting to see. Can't wait for more information. I always loved using mods in Skyrim.

I'm pretty curious to see where this whole paid mod thing goes, because when Bethesda tried to introduce the concept of paid mods to Steam, the backlash they received from the PC community was absolutely overwhelming. From what I've noticed up until now, the reaction doesn't seem to be nearly as strong as the first time around, though that may be because the news hasn't gotten around yet. For the time being people have been mostly focused on just making fun of Bethesda for constantly pushing a six year old game.

I think I read somewhere that they’re going to keep a close eye on the whole thing, so I really don’t think that EVERY mod will get to be on the paid list. It is probably just going to be a handful of modders who’ll get the chance to sell their stuff on the platform. I think that was their problem last time, so I really hope they learned the lesson.

Hey, if you can make money off of doing nothing and the gaming community all of the work, then it's not that hard of a decision. Regardless of how they try to sugarcoat it, it's the same paid mods that gamers united against a few years back. Also, let's not exactly ignore the fact that Bethesda is new with exploiting DLCs and mods for their gain. Remember that horrible horse armor DLC? They had a taste of profit for very little work, and they won't be giving that up anytime soon. They will force this paid mods thing on the consumers until either they just accept it, or they boycott the product.
