Any game, new or old, any console, any reason- What games disappointed you in 2014?

I've been avidly awaiting Witcher 3 for the PS4, but I'd never played a Witcher game before ever. So I bought Witcher 2 off Steam during one of the sales for around $4.00.... I gotta say, the game looks SPECTACULAR, and like it could be tons of fun... but the controls are just way to intense for me... There's just too much to do and remember, and the timing needs to be perfect... I think I'd do okay if the rune magic system thing were introduced a little more slowly then showing me everything all at once in the tutorial. Not my kind of game I guess, so Witcher 3's out of the question I guess! I suppose it's good I only spent less then $5 on it.

I was also pretty disappointed with the lag in Hyrule Warriors... It just seemed like they could have done better. :/

So yeah, any games that just weren't up to snuff for you all? How come?

LMFAO I bought Witcher 2 for 15.00 on sale on 360 and I had the same problems. Aiming and hit detection are horrible - especially with magic attacks and bombs and such. The map seldom shows your next place to go and thus the direction sense is horrendous. The game glitches quests by saying you failed them when you passed them (says completed on screen then failed in the quest log). I gave up not too far in. It is free on the 16th for gold members this month on 360. I think it only got a good rating because "HD full frontal nudity".

Project X Zone (although I think that was 2013) would be another game I was anything but pleased with. The ONLY parts I liked were the remix of Ghost and Goblin's theme and that one animation where Morrigan attacks because she is my Goddess <3. The battle system was unfairly unbalanced with no ability to grind. HIGHLY repetative. The story was simply Darkstalkers 3's story from another perspective. Overall, it was such a huge let down from the other 4 games in the series.

Bravely Default... started out SO PERFECT and then dropped the ball on chapters 4 and on. Everything you did in chapters 1-3 you do again in chapter 4 but with amped bosses. Then that pattern repeats in chapter 5. then 6. then 7. then by chapter 8 you are relying on your friends' summons to help you and even then it becomes more luck and "having a specific job leveled to have a specific ability" and hoping the moves go off or you hit crits or whatever - even with max level characters. Chapter 9 takes this to horribly bad levels. I mean, there is difficulty, and then there is luck with a slim chance of success. And no, I am not exagerating; read a walkthrough and you'l see most who wrote them put "to win this battle could take many retries because you are basically running on luck to win" for most of the fights.

It came out fairly late in 2013 so I count it more towards 2014, but Mario and Luigi Dream Team.  I was skeptical about getting it because of Partners in Time being weak in my opinion and Bowser's Inside Story was decent, but not amazing, but after hearing some positive things about it I picked it up in early 2014.  I honestly wish I hadn't…the humorous story that made Superstar Saga so entertaining for me was almost completely absent aside from people talking strangely in ways that really aren't funny (thinking specifically of the Russian mountaineers) and making jokes at Luigi's expense, which can only go so far.  I was profoundly irritated by the lack of any real innovation this time, as replace the dream world with Bowser's insides and you have the same gimmick, and giant Luigi took over the giant Bowser fights.  The Luigi imagination works things were gimmicky and got really annoying because one screw up would force you to go back to the beginning of that room.  The story was quite frankly fairly dull, and I didn't really find much of a redeeming factor in the game as a whole.  Superstar Saga was the pinnacle of the series, and I've been more or less disappointed since.  I still think Partners in Time was the worst in the series, but slot Dream Team in just above it.

Also Bravely Default, as Vince said.  I've got nothing more to add there, really.

ORAS for me. I was looking forward to it a lot, the remake of my favourite generation. The previous remakes were excellent, they updated what needed and kept the same what needed kept the same. However in ORAS they updated things that needed kept the same and they kept the same things that needed updating.

Maybe if I play it some more things will change but I just don't feel inclined to.
