I'm not sure if anyone here has been following the development of a free HL2 mod called Black Mesa - which is a complete recreation of the original Half-Life on the Source engine - but the site was recently updated, with a new front page:

AFTER EIGHT YEARS IN DEVELOPMENT, IT'S FINALLY COMING OUT!

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Oh, and the soundtrack's been released, too. You can get it for free at http://blackmesasour...soundtrack.html and if you like the music, you can donate to the artist on the same page.

I'm so excited! Wooooooo!

One more thing...

8 years is a long time. Even the fan creations run on Valve Time. Though it means it'll be just as good.

I actually stopped playing Half Life because I was stuck

, so I moved on to 2. Though I'm sure this'll boost me back into finishing the first adventure of Gordon.

FINALLY! If I'm correct, won't there even be co-op?

Sadly, they dropped the co-op idea. It's still open for other people to create, though. It would sort of be a mod for a mod....

Also, Xen and HLDM won't be available in this release on the 14th, they'll be released a little later, since they said that Xen itself was so big it could be a game in and of itself.
