The new Blacklist Bill that is going through the house could effectively destroy YouTube, Twitter, and other sites that rely on user-generated content by making the sites' owners legally responsible for content their users post.
It also includes provisions that would make it a felony to stream unlicensed content -- including cover band performances, karaoke videos, video game play-throughs, and much more.
This is very serious people, if something is not done the government will rule the internet like a nazi Germany.
This can't be good, because they're definitely going up against the Web right now - the corporations, regimes, etc. My suspicion is that they want to crush their competition and protect their online reputations.
Right now you got the NYPD and other cops want Google/Youtube to remove videos depicting police brutality, probably because it's embarrassing to see themselves acting unprofessionally on the police force. Then over a month ago the California's BART folks disrupted cell phone service prior to a protest in that area.
