Chinese software company Tencent is working with chip maker Intel on a new game console platform called the TGP Box (Tencent Games Platform).

The first model is a system manufactured by Haier called the Blade Box, and while it looks like a game console, it’s basically a Windows 10-powered computer with an Intel Skylake processor.

Tencent’s solution includes a TGP Box mode with a game store and a user interface that’s easy to navigate while using a game controller and sitting on your couch. The platform also supports downloading games and updates, live streaming games, and more.

But the company also owns Riot Games and Epic Games and is responsible for titles including League of Legends, Need for Speed, FIFA Online 3, and more. All of those games should run on the TGP Box.

I like the design of the console.

This console sort of reminds me of the Steam Machine, but running Windows 10 instead of Steam OS. I wonder would the version of Windows 10 be the regular version of Windows where you can buy games from Steam, Gog, EA Origin, and install PC games from physical PC Game discs or USB drives.

Don't care for the OS, but sounds like a decent box.

I bet, it won't be hard to install Windows 7 or Steam OS on this console, so you don't have to deal with Windows 10 privacy concerns, and automatic force Windows updates which can break Windows because of a software error in a Windows update installer file.
