From a press release from the Make-A-Wish Foundation: on April 29th, Blizzard brought out 10 Make-A-Wish children and their families to the Blizzard campus, which was made possible by World of Warcraft players.
Players who purchased the Moonkin Hatchling Pet were, in part, donating money to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which fulfills wishes made by children who have a life-threatening illness. Blizzard Entertainment donated $800,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which was 50% of the total sales revenue for the in-game pet. The companies were celebrating World Wish Day, which was on April 29th, by inviting young game enthusiasts and their families to see how Blizzard Entertainment makes their games.
Blizzard CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime commented on his pride in WoW players.

We've had a long relationship with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and are proud to help contribute to the great work they do for children...we're also proud of the spirit and generosity of our players – their enthusiasm for World of Warcraft and for supporting a good cause made this donation possible.
