I have just gotten all 80 achievements in Borderlands 1. As such, I wanted to celebrate this with a ranking of the dlc in the game, since reviewing the game would be far too big of a task for me.
Instead, here is all of the dlc ranked worst to best.
4. Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot
This is genuinely one of the worst dlcs in video game history.
It's long and repetitive, with absolutely no rewards for most of it. I only did this for the achievements, and I'll never touch this dlc again.
The first part of this is 3 arenas with 5 rounds each. Each round is split into five different waves. In total, in just the first half, you're doing 15 rounds of boring, easy combat.
Already this is remarkably bad. But the second half of the DLC is inhumane and never should've existed.
You have to do 20 rounds each of the same 3 arenas you did last time. 80 rounds in total for the reward of four achievements.
This is the worst thing the Borderlands franchise ever did. Even New Tales is a more rewarding and fleshed out experience compared to this.
What else is there to say, Mad Moxxi is shit and should never be beaten.
3. The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned
These next three are miles above Mad Moxxi, but I find Dr. Ned to be neat but just not very interesting.
It's a short romp through a zombie infested island that while fun, just never really left me wanting more from it.
The missions are alright, but besides the wereskag pack side quest, I'd be hard pressed into wanting to replay any of these quests.
Overall, not terrible, but the next two are a lot more meaty.
2. Claptrap's New Robot Revolution
This is the shortest dlc I believe (Dr. Ned might be shorter) but this does entertain for the short time that it has.
Granted, most of it can be beaten in less than two hours but I did enjoy this for what it was.
It's a fun romp where you go to war against communist claptraps who are fighting against a corporation. The satire is alright, honestly the jokes aren't really anything to write home about but I'll smile at a few of them.
The missions are very similar to each other. You go to a place, fight a reused boss and then collect the gizmo from that place, but I do enjoy it enough to want to replay it.
All in all, pretty fun.
1.The Secret Armory of General Knoxx
I mean, yeah, anyone who's done Knoxx knows why it's up at the top.
Knoxx is not only the longest and most substantial dlc, it's also the birthplace of the legendary raid bosses. Crawmermax The Invincible is an all timer of a boss fight and it continues to be the dlc's highlight to this day.
There's also General Knoxx, who's easily the best villain inside of Borderlands 1. Knoxx is a suicidal general who just wants you dead, and it leads to a pretty solid boss fight in the final mission.
The dlc isn't perfect, you have to drive everywhere in this which gets really annoying quickly, but I recognize that despite the travel times, this dlc is the most solid out of the bunch, and worthy of the top spot.
Anyways, that's it. Goodbye.
