Don't think that I'm weird for playing a couple of gameboy advance games in 2013. Sure, the gameboy advance is an outdated gaming handheld and properly your friend doesn't own one, but for those lucky fellows out there that could get their hands on a GBA cartridge, remembering the old days while playing GBA games on the original Nintendo DS can surely bring back good memories. Just recently, I found myself enjoying a couple of old classics that I have not played in years.

Today I'm going to make a list for 5 of the best games for the GameBoy Advance. If you are unable to find the games at a local store, there's something called Amazon and eBay - Google it (heh). I did some searching and there are people selling these games. Then again, people always resort to GBA emulators (including smartphone and tablet owners) however I do not endorse piracy.
List of the 5 best GBA games :
Pokemon Emerald

If you have never played a Pokemon game, yet, you own a Nintendo device, you're basically living in the stone ages. Even if you're a hater, you must have tried it at least once - maybe not on your personal device, but a friends. Pokemon Emerald is the best Pokemon game for the GBA. Why? Because after completing the entire game, you gain access to more content and an extended storyline when compared to what you get in either Pokemon Sapphire or Pokemon Ruby. That's right - I'm talking about the Battle Frontier.

There are 386 different Pokemon to catch, lots of items to get the upper hand during battle, and dozens of berries to satisfy the Pokemon. Some might assume it's a boring turn based battling game, however, if you're a great Pokemon master, you will know that it takes skill to EV train and IV breed your Pokemon. There's a lot of calculations if you want to become the best and crush the Battle Frontier - it's such a shame Wi-Fi battling was not introduced in the GBA generation games (however, that changed with the Nintendo DS).

Megaman Battle Network (view best game below)

There are ten Megaman Battle Network games available for the GBA. Six games to be exact if you cross out the games with the same storyline - for some reason the game developers decided to make two versions of the game after reaching Battle Network 3. All games are different in their own little way, however, only one can achieve the best Battle Network title at Gaming Force.

I'll speak more about that after running through the games below.
( Megaman Battle Network 6 gameplay )
List of Megaman Battle Network games :
  • Megaman Battle Network 1
  • Megaman Battle Network 2
  • Megaman Battle Network 3 - White or Blue
  • Megaman Battle Network 4 - Red Sun or Blue Moon
  • Megaman Battle Network 5 - Team Protoman or Team Colonel
  • Megaman Battle Network 6 - Gregar or Falzar
Megaman Battle Network 1 and 2

I'll be honest here. I did not bother with either games because their graphics are horrible when compared to the newer Battle Network games available for the GBA. Both storylines might have been interesting and the gameplay might have been fun, however, graphics play a large roll when I game on my personal time. Either way, there are eight more Battle Network games with similar battling style, great storyline and tricky puzzles, therefore, you're not missing out on anything, much.

Megaman Battle Network 6ÃÂ

Battle Network 6 is fun, however, it is not challenging. The game feeds the gamer with overpowered battle chips (worst if you Google a couple of lottery codes and win the battle chips from the battle chip machine), and the enemies are not very powerful when compared to the older generation games. That might be because Megaman grows stronger with age, however, during the gameplay it makes Megaman look like a weakling. According to reviews,ÃÂ Falzar might be a tougher cookie, however, that does not stop the player from unlocking some super strong battle chips giving him/her the ability to complete the game within a few hours.

Megaman Battle Network 4 - Red Sun or Blue Moon

Lack of storyline - enough said (too much filler, causing the ship to turn away from its main storyline). Battle Network 4 isÃÂ definitelyÃÂ a Megaman game you can/should skip.

Megaman Battle Network 3 and 5ÃÂ

Ah yes. Battle Network 3 and Battle Network 5 are both great games, and personally, two of my favorites, however, only one can rankÃÂ supreme of the Battle Network games. Both games are challenging, and they both have interesting storylines. During my experience playing both games, I found that Megaman Battle Network 3 was a bit tougher than Battle Network 5. It might be due to the smaller number of battle chips, or maybe the strong viruses at the beginning of the game. Battle Network 5 begins to get difficult at its ending when Megaman travels through the Undernet, however, it's not as close to the number of times Megaman will get deleted during the beginning of Battle Network 3's gameplay.

Zelda - Minish Cap

What's a Nintendo gaming device without a Zelda game?ÃÂ The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, also known asÃÂ Zelda no Densetsu: Fushigi no BÃÂshi, is theÃÂ twelfth game in the Legend of Zelda series. The game expandsÃÂ the story of Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures. During the gameplay, Link has a magical talking cap known as Ezlo that has the ability to shrink him to a Picori. If you were wondering, aÃÂ Picori is aÃÂ thumb-sized race that live in Hyrule. Other than that, the game brings back some of the old gameplay that is found in recent Zelda titles, while introducing new playing features.

Kingdom Hearts - Chain of Memories

Of course, I can not forget to include Kingdom Hearts. The game includes characters from Final Fantasy, as well as Disney animated films. Although the game's graphics aren't as good as the newest Kingdom Hearts titles, its gameplay and storyline will surely keep you entertained. Get support from some of your favorite Disney characters such as Goofy and Donald Duck to defeat enemies and collect powerful cards while you go deeper into the game.

Super Mario Advanced 4 - Super Mario Bros 3

The last game on the list is also one of my favorites and one of the most challenging games that one could have played back in the day, Mario. Try and beat two games in one Game Boy AdvanceÃÂ cartridge. TheÃÂ cartridge includes the well known Super Mario Brothers 3, andÃÂ Super Mario Advanced 4. I remembered the fun times playing the multiplayer gameplay of Super Mario Advanced 4, while Mario Bros 3 was more of a challenge. Heck, I never even beaten the game to this date (that's to tell you howÃÂ difficultÃÂ it is). If you're looking for a Mario game for the Game Boy Advance, this is definitely theÃÂ cartridge for you.
