At Ubisoft's E3 2011 press conference Gearbox's Randy Pitchford took the stage to announce the next iteration of its Brothers in Arms series. To date, the Brothers in Arms games have been more realistic takes on World War II warfare, requring you to move around battlefields and intelligently flank the opposition to achieve success.

With Brothers in Arms: Furious 4, it doesn't look like Gearbox is interested in that at all. Instead, it's a cartoon-like, hyperviolent take on the World War II shooter, drawing more inspiration from Inglorious Basterds than prior Brothers in Arms games.

The title will feature four main characters, each with outlandish outfits and trademark weaponry, from chainguns to throwing axes. No gameplay was shown, but the pre-rendered cinematic featured a Team Fortress 2-ish visual style and goofy, violent humor. It will feature a campaign with four person co-op support as well as a cooperative multiplayer campaign. It's currently scheduled to be ready in the first half of the 2012 calendar year.

I have personally never owned a Brothers in Arms game but this new game looks pretty good. This new source made me kind of want to buy it. Can anyone who has owned a BIA game before tell me if they are good and if its worth getting? I do not really care about campaign as I only like XBL.

I haven't tried any of the Brothers in Arms game, but a friend of mine said it's an awesome game and he can't wait for the release of the sequel, so I will probably get my hands on it when he gets bored of it. :D
