The Xbox Live services turned into Facebook over night as a unknown bug began to reveal Xbox Live user's real names which led to many concerned users. Microsoft stated the following:

This is unfortunate that people's real name got revealed, but there is always a chance that your info would get revealed when joining a new website which require you to give them your name.
If you really think about it, a phone book does this already for revealing such info.
