Haha, I hate the latest Call of Duty games exactly for those reasons! They reached way too far out. I never wanted it to turn into sci-fi FPS. It's just silly and they killed it with adding too many weird futuristic moves like dashing to Africa and back, ... I am a fan of those good old series like Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty 4. I am hoping that they will return to their core with this new game World War II that's coming out in November. At least they're done with the futuristic stuff. I hated that a bit, especially with space battles and laser beams on robot hands or whatever. This is a return to form, and I am actually hopeful that they won't mess it up - but I've been disappointed before. I think Battlefield is still the better franchise, because they knew to stay within their comfort zone and give the fans what they want - history battles. Call of Duty tried to spread its branches a bit with zombies and futuristic stuff, but that's not really why we played the earlier games, right?
I agree. I've always preferred swords over laser guns. Skyrim over Fallout 4. Lord of the Rings over Star Wars. I just can't believe laser guns and other futuristic weapons for some reason. I can appreciate a nice sword, a sturdy shield, but a flux capacitor or whatever? No thanks.Haha, I hate the latest Call of Duty games exactly for those reasons! They reached way too far out. Regarding the Battlefield. I have played some BF games and as much as I did enjoy them I also hated the map sizes and a number of vehicles they have. I kept getting killed by some random tank half way across the map. I still prefer FPS games without any vehicles.

These franchises are known for milking the crap out of their games. Next thing we see is a Call of Duty game based on Ancient Egypt and you had to use bows and had an arm that has magic snake powers. You know it's gonna happen eventually, when they run out of ideas for modern day or World War themed stories. What's next? An alien invasion arrives and you have to use catapults to fight them off? Crossover future and past game! Brilliant!Hey, they could go back to futuristic stuff again, it wouldn't be surprising. COD: Infinite Warfare really stood out of the whole franchise. Although, I did kind of liked the story and everything behind it as it was not really your classic COD title. But, still, not the COD I am looking for. They only use the name to get buyers. If they came up with a title that held a different name, I doubt they would receive that much exposure. After all, everyone knows what COD is.

Crossing over past and future is NEVER a good idea in my opinion. The future one will always win. What, are you gonna tell me that a ragtag group of cave people - we don't even have to go that far - let's say civil war soldiers, would win against an advanced civilization with a hypercharged planet destroying laser cannon on their ship? Lasers that turn people into goo would decimate armies of people with muskets, and if worse comes to worse, they can always bring out their even bigger guns. That's why I couldn't believe the Minute Men defeated the synth-powered Institute in Fallout 4. That's just ridiculous.Love the ideas hahaha
Honestly, Ancient Egyptian COD might sound fun, although snake powers, count those out please
But crossing future and past games is not a generally bad idea. If you haven't heard of Darkest Of Days give it a shot. It might not be the best game out there, but it surely includes some sweet crossovers on past and future.
