I want to restore my computer to factory settings, I don't have a Windows 7 installation disc, nor do I have an empty CD that is large enough to burn a bootable one. I had Vista, but I upgraded to Windows 7, which is why I need a disc. If I install Windows 7 onto my USB Drive instead, will I be able to reset my computer?

You'll need to have the serial number for the purchased version of the Windows 7. If it is locking you out via that "upgrade to proceed" type screen, then you'll need a bootable disc, sorry to say. If you can prove you owned vista and purchased the Windows 7 upgrade by serial number then you can call Microsoft and they can help you.

There is a special program tha let's you make a bootable win7 install USB. You will need an active or functioning serial. Now, what most users don't know, you can use a key three times. They key is usually on the bottom or back of the computer. If your key does not work, you can call Microsoft, explain about your problem, tell then the key doesn't work, and they will help you.

I have found my serial through a key finding program, and have a USB Drive prepared to reset my computer, wish me luck guys!

EDIT: Thanks for the replies, guys! I found out all I had to do was simply reinstall Windows 7 from the flash drive, then it reset my computer!
