What cancelled titles did you want to see released and why?

For me, probably either Super Mario 64 or the old pre Sticker Star Paper Mario title for 3DS. Both looked to have a lot of promise before they were pre emptively struck down in development (and replaced in the latter's case).

Sonic Xtreme and Sonic Synergy.

Sonic Xtreme because it looked really cool.

Sonic Synergy because... well... Sonic looked like Modern Sonic got a change of clothes. He has the tan arms and the unrealistic quills still, but still has the scarf, sports tape, and shoes.
Wait, that's Sonic Boom beta.

Well, then, that leaves Sonic Xtreme.

Obviously, I'm going to mention Darkstalkers 4 and Sammy Versus Capcom, but also on the list would be Mega Man Powered Up 2, Mega Man Legends 3, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem 2, Castlevania Resurrection, and Silent Hills come to mind off the top of my head. Oh, let's not forget Baulder's Gate: Dark Alliance 3!

Megaman Universe, it was going to be the ultimate Mega Man game. It was going to come with a stage builder and character customization options so you can share levels and other creations online. It also added a ton of characters from other Capcom games and I'm sure more would have been added as DLC. Finally it was based on the Mega Man 2 engine but had modern 2D graphics. Which in my mind means it would have been the perfect Mega Man game since I love the classic series (Mega Man 2 and 9 are my favorites).

Capcom canceled the project and due to internal conflicts with Keiji Inafune he resigned his position. I personally feel he had no choice in the matter but didn't want to upset anyone so he resigned rather than begin fired for begin against the general direction Capcom was going in (releasing tons of DLC for SF4 for example instead of releasing it for free or creating new content/games).

Keiji broke off to do his own thing and started a kickstarter to make a game like Mega Man. Problem is so many people started throwing opinions his way about how the game should work. What I've seen of this new game is nothing like classic Mega Man. I'm pretty peeved that he caved so easily to these peoples demands. We shouldn't be cramming in politically correct characters and story lines just because some people get offended by anything. But I digress.

At any rate I was very excited for Mega Man Universe and it saddens me that we'll never get to play it. Here is some footage of actual game play. Anyone that loves side scrollers would have loved this game. Mega Man fans would have bought it in droves the day it was released. I don't know why Capcom abandoned the classic series when they were making so much money from Mega Man 9 and 10 at the time.

Oh god, Mega Man. Capcom really screwed everyone over there, since Mega Man Universe and Mega Man Legends 3 were cancelled in one foul swoop while they just about left the series to rot as a smartphone app one.

Either way, Mega Man Universe looks awesome, and the level editor makes it sound awesome too. Just a shame it'll likely never see the light of day...

My first home console experience was the TurboGrafx 16, also known as the PC Engine to others. This system introduced me to the Bonk franchise. I had so much fun playing Bonk's Revenge growing up, as soon as I heard of a new release after so many years I was so hyped.

Bonk: Brink of Extinction was supposed to be released as a digital download on WiiWare, PSN, and XBLA back in 2010 by Hudson. The thing about this cancelled title that bugs me the most is the fact that it was practically complete. The only reason why it wasn't released was because of Konami acquiring Hudson and deciding to shelve a majority of its projects to save costs. Ultimately leading the U.S. branch of Hudson to close down.

It's really quite a shame considering how close it was to be released.

Also, once again, "thanks" Konami for the whole Silent Hills and Kojima Productions fiasco...:(

I hate to say it but I'm very anti-Capcom now, the only game I've bought since they canceled Universe is Street Fighter 4. I have a local buddy that plays in tournaments so I got it to play with him when we both have the same day off. I had to pay for the Ultra version when it came out but I refuse to pay for any of the DLC.

Capcom has become one of those companies that does nothing but slightly update their games every so often then throws a bunch of DLC on top. I've always loved Capcom since I was a kid but I am appalled by a lot of the things they've been doing as of late.

Hopefully Mega Man Universe will see the light of day at some point, too bad it'll probably have to be leaked and we won't be able to obtain it legally. From what I know it was almost done so I bet later builds of it would be pretty playable.

I love the TurboGrafx 16 and the Bonk series, you have good taste! :D

I didn't know this game was supposed to come out for the Wii. I would have bought it the day it came out if I'd known. It looks really cool! I bet this one will eventually get leaked as well, again a shame we would not be able to obtain it legally. :( Hopefully if it did leak it would be a WiiWare version of it. ;)
