Capcom Europe issued a tweet a few hours ago apologizing to the fans of Mega Man Legends 3. A tweet issued yesterday blamed fans of Mega Man for the project’s cancellation.

The apology tweet:

Apologies again. The original comment was in relation to the interaction in the Dev rooms NOT the fans who have been nothing but supportive

As for the real reasons behind Mega Man Legends 3 , the official blog says only:

it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria

A tweet issued July 20 suggests that a lack of fan support was to blame.

@kdawg3000 We weren’t asking people to do much but response to dev rooms was cool at best …@kdawg3000 it’s a shame the fans didn’t want to get more involved if we saw there was an audience for MML3 people might change minds

Mega Man fans were understandably pissed and Capcom Europe has apologized. Do you think there's any situation in which fans could justifiably be blamed for a game's cancellation?

god help the capcom CEO if I see him on the street.

DS, you have a lot of anger... I hate that they cancelled it though. :/ And I'm almost 100% Mega Man is completely cancelled now.

I got trolled and trolled hard, not only me but a lot of loyal megaman fans who have played it since the NES and SNES days. what capcom did was complete betrayal and I'm sure their precious profits will fall.

If they were really sorry, they'd continue to make the game. Every game designer is, to an extent, interested in making money, so therefore it wouldn't make sense to disband a game that could generate so much revenue from these dedicated supporters.
