Acquiring the licences for all of those characters would be prohibitively expensive.
No game company would give another company copyrights to their characters simply based on the fact that they will get more recognition. They will give it to them for a much lower price most likely because getting paid for someone else advertising your shit is a nice deal. But it wouldn't be free.
