The question is... will they do better than the existing lot? Capcom may be incompetent, but they're not the only ones that incompetent in this industry. I mean, they're doing badly, but they're not exactly failing at recent Zynga levels yet. And they haven't been completely mauled like Rare under Microsoft's ownership.
Capcom being bought out could easily be really bad news as much as really good news.

Doubtful. They only have a hand full of major licenses. Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Marvel vs Capcom, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, and Mega-Man. Mega-Man is officially dead. Darkstalkers they kept saying they would make 4 and never did. Marvel vs Capcom was RUINED with 3's craptacular battle system that was a weakened version of Tatsunoko vs Capcom's. Devil May Cry was killed with the latest remake because the original creator left the company to make Platinum Games. Resident Evil is the same case with the same former employee. All they are riding on now is the Street Fighter franchise alone. I mean, they haven't even made another CAPtain COMmando game since the original for NES and that is where they got their name from, ffs
Point number 2 I'd like to make is Out of the three head creators / directors only one remains and Capcom refuses to listen to him anymore. Capcom used to listen to fans and for some reason decided they didn't wish to do that anymore. When that happened they decided to also stop listening to the three brains that made all the major games. Akira (known as ARIKA when shown on title screens) is the only creative developer / director left. Inafune, who helped with resident evils 2, 3, and Code Veronica and created the Mega-Man games left to make ComCept. As I stated, Platinum Games is now the new company from the creator of Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. Since those two have left all Capcom has done is crap on the titles those two made great (see Resident Evil 6, MegaMan Xover, and the remake of DMC).
Point number 3: Capcom has done nothing but lie to press and fans since about 2007. They have been caught in countless lies (I won't bother to list them all here) to the point that some of them even got them pulled into court.
Heh, I think it's about time Capcom's plug was pulled. They've shown on occasion that they're not capable of making very smart decisions. They'll be lucky to make it out of this one. Maybe nintendo can consume them, or at least buy out their IPs worth saving.

I think you and I should buy the IPs. We are best suited to bringing them back. *digs in pocket* I have 61 cents and a ball of lint. Crap... that will only afford SNK.
In seriousness, however, I hope someone snatches up Legendary Wings and makes an HD sequel.
If Nintendo buys Capcom, it will make this console war a whole lot more interesting. Monster Hunter exclusive. Resident Evil exclusive. Devil May Cry exclusive. Mega Man exclusive. Ace Attorney even more exclusive. Street Fighter exclusive. Lost Planet exclusive. Dead Rising exclusive.
I think a lot of Capcom franchises would fill in that gap of mature games Nintendo consoles are constantly accused of lacking.
Nintendo buying Capcom would be awesome. And hey, it'd mean we'd get Mega Man games again (real ones, not fan games and smartphone rip offs).
But be warned. While they may be doing poorly, I really do worry about the possibility of them becoming another Rare. Remember, even lying has to be better than 'we now forget all our IPs ever existed and publish crappy Wii Sports ripoffs for eternity'. And it's certainly got to be better than the way Internet Brands treated vBulletin (non gaming related), where they released crap projects, lied through their teeth and treated everyone like crap.
Don't ever think of a buyout has to better than the current situation by default.
I know Nintendo won't turn Capcom into Rare. Bad Rare that is. I can see nothing but good things if Nintendo acquires them. Microsoft on the other hand... Let's not even think about it.
I think it would be awesome for Nintendo to buy Capcom. Outside of any major shake up at the company, I don't see them making good games for their IPs.

Again, Inafune who made the series then left... If HE buys it and puts it under his new company, ComCept,'s label then we can have another Mega-Man game. If not, then MM is officially a dead license.

Now that Inafune has Mighty No. 9, I don't think he'll buy Mega Man. So Mega Man is almost a lost cause unless Nintendo can make a good revamp. However, I don't know how that would go so I can't say it would be good or bad.

Inafune stated "Mega-Man is like a child to me; if I can still work on him I would love to do so." even after he began M#9. That being said, he'd probably run M#9 into the same series like he did with X.

So there's a glimmer of hope for The Blue Bomber. I've never played any of the X games, but I've played Mega Man Zero, which is somewhat, to a point like Mega Man X... besides full motion cut scenes, but it's a continuing story... I think. Which is why I could barely follow the plot, but I still loved the games, but I digress.
All I'm saying is it would be great to have MM and M#9. Even though they would be somewhat identical, I don't think anyone would care.

The Zero games aren't like the X games and do not follow the same story, per say. They take place many years after the X series. Porkman can explain it better than I can.
