Howdy people. I've been working on this for a few days, so I figure I may as well get some feedback and extra ideas.

Simply put, this a new Flash project I'll be doing for the next six months, so I'm getting in early and getting a nice design laid out for me so I have more time to code and make it look amazing. And then I make it go public and use it as a real Flash portfolio to showcase work (where I'll create the obvious HTML5 mobile version too, but that's for a later date).

Anyhoos, without further ado, here it is:

The trees in the distance really should be faded out, but it's just a design, I'll fix those flaws later. But yeah, as you can see, the clouds and Sun being suspended by rope is for a bit of a humorous effect.

I'll be working on two more scenes to this; a scene in the clouds, and then a scene above the atmosphere of Earth. I'll hopefully get these done later on and upload here for more feedback.

For now, suggest some things that could happen while the user views this screen. Thoughts I've had are:

  • Birds flying past and tweeting
  • Planes and hot air balloons
  • Some "wind lines" with leaves fluttering past the screen
  • Maybe add in a bush or flower for an excuse to shove in a butterfly

I'm not saying I'll use everything, but any ideas are welcome. Otherwise, thanks for taking the time to look at this at least. Always open for improvements.

That looks pretty neat. I'd say shove in a few Mario characters but if this is going in your portfolio it's best not to (copyright and stuff). But how about a season button to change the seasons so instead of green leaves fluttering past in Spring the tress are bare and snow falls for Winter?

Or maybe a little time slider to change between sunrise, day, sunset, and night?

Well! I was planning on having a thing that will set the time of day based on the time on your computer, so that covers the day/night stuff (going to add in sunrise and whatnot too). The seasons idea sounds really good though. I'd have to do a check of the user's timezone to check what season they're in though if I want to make this international, heh. Still, those are both really awesome, I'd love to add them in!

I like the idea of using the internal clock Dan!

Wouldn't it be easier to make them button activated or something?

Also, why not add a few features per season that are click-able? Like in Summer clicking on the sun makes it put on shades or something. In Spring, clicking a flower makes a butterfly appear. In Autumn, clicking on the trees makes their leaves drop, and in Winter clicking on a certain piece of snow makes a snowman pop out?

I think the seasonal buttons would be my best bet, makes everything more controlled. As for the interactivity based on the season, that's good too!

Now I just need to plan out some things for the other two scenes; a shot in the clouds, and a shot in space.

Interactivity on the clouds could be clicking on them and sending various flying objects through them - like planes. And clicking on a planet in space makes it rotate, but clicking on the moon brings up a space craft with an astronaut doin' some serious space-walking. Or maybe showing an astronaut on the moon thwacking a golf ball.

These are all really good, you've opened up a whole thing of possibilities. Because making the actual content and getting everything positioned should be a piece of cake, I will hopefully have time to add in all these cool details.

It's really Kirby's Epic Yarnish, aka super cute.

You're awesome, Dan! Reminds me of SM3DL 8-3!

Looks really cool! You can also make rain or snow when you touch a cloud.

Heh, thank you. And good idea, hopefully I can work around with some quick and efficient particle systems in Flash to do that. Can't be too memory intensive I think...

Thank you too! I only just kind of saw the resemblance between the two when you mentioned it!

Yoshi's Story! xD Maybe put some yoshis and shyguys?

Wow Dan, It's very charming! I love the cute little cardboard cutout style, it's really coot. Remember my Avatar that you made in Flash? I would love it if you made it in that style.

Probably not, heh. Otherwise I'd be doing a mighty fine job of infringing on some copyrighted material, heh.

I don't remember making you an avatar in Flash. Except for that NintenDon one, but that wasn't Flash.

I love it! it's simple and yet very charming ,and the cardboard cutout effect looks great.
