Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 has been announced at Konami's Pre-E3 Showcase, via a reveal trailer.

The moody CG trailer features the protagonist from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Gabriel Belmont, taking on an enormous army against the backdrop of a Gothic cathedral. At one point, Gabriel gains supernatural powers from an unwitting soldier, turning himself into a bat-like creature made of smoke. The trailer ends with the introduction of a new character, who bears a strong resemblance to Castlevania regular, Alucard.

Host Geoff Keighley said that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be released in 2013, with more to share later this year. The original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was released in late 2010.

The trailer was pretty awesome.

But I can't wait to see if anything in that trailer will somehow be taken over to the actual gameplay.

I know the in game graphics are not going to come close to the trailer. I hope they keep the original combo system, and just add a few new moves. I hate when games completely change a games moveset. I was pretty good at the first one, but now I want to try this one out to see if I can get my matching platinum trophy.

The only thing I don't like about this game is the story. Making a Belmont the new king of vampires was a bad move. But that's just my personal opinion. I understand trying to break away and do new things, But did they HAVE to disrupt the traditonal war between the Belmont Clan and Dracula?

Yea I agree.

I to did not like having a Belmont become Dracula.

Its like making a reboot of mario and having him become bowser or making a reboot of metroid and having Samus become Ridley.

It just did not feel right.

But over time I have gotten over it bit by bit and now I'm eager to see what they can pull of with this one.

Yeah, it's not a knock about the game itself. It's just this is them wiping away a very important part of the Castlevania history. In fact, it's not just an important part, it's integral.

Couldn't agree more.

But its been confirmed that LOS2 will be the final game in this Castlevania continuity which gives me hope that the next person to pick this series will stay more true to the more "intergral" parts of CV history.
