Microsoft kick-started its UK Halo 3 onslaught last night with a glittering launch party packed with celebs, champagne and, of course, Xbox green-coloured cocktails. Rapper Pharrell Williams, Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding, some Big Brother has-beens and a host of other less-known stars (the tall, skinny one from TV's What Not to Wear, for example) were on hand to add a touch of glamour to the evening, posing for the paparazzi and swanning around swanky London 24 nightclub while giving the Xbox 360 pods a wide berth.
The party followed an event held earlier at the Imax cinema in London's Waterloo, in which a notably grumpy Pharrell went head-to-head against other stars over Xbox Live. Williams, Carmen Electra, LL Cool J and the 'Italian Chuckle Brothers' battled it out against MySpace competition winners at events hosted across Europe, with the London crowd cheering loudly every time the NERD singer took a slug. Unsurprisingly the competition winners destroyed the celebs, with Electra coming in last with a single kill and Pharrell narrowly avoiding complete embarrassment by notching up two.
Earlier, Bungie representatives demoed the game (on Normal difficulty - pah!) on the giant Imax screen before four competition winners went head-to-head to win copies of the game.
