When Google announced the Chromecast in mid-2013, many agreed that it was a great product that was easy to use. It also came with a low price tag of only $35, which alone almost guaranteed the success of the device.

Fast forward a year and a half, and Google announced that the Chromecast was the most popular streaming device in the U.S. in 2014, with 10 million units sold and one billion "casts" or streams from Android and iOS mobile devices as well as from the desktop Chrome browser, according to NPD.

I think Chromecast being the number one streaming device prove that people like using affordable and easy to use streaming devices to stream video and audio rather than more expensive and complicated devices like Smart TVs, game consoles, and set-top video streaming boxes like Apple TV.

Hmm... I've heard that Chromecast had become popular, but I didn't expect it to reach 10 million sales... I guess it just goes to show that Google is really good at exploiting the market and coming up with gadgets that meet the consumers' needs.

There are billions Google Android and Chrome users who use an Android smartphone and tablet, and use Google Chrome web browser, so many of Google Android and Chrome users probably visted https://play.google.com/store/devices , YouTube, Google.com, and other Google website which advertise Chromecast, so even if a small percentage of Android, Chrome, and Google users bought Chromecast there would be a lot of buyers for Chromecast from the Android, Chrome, and Google user community.

If I ever get tried of cable, I'll have to give this a try.
