Activision has delayed the release of the Call of Duty Elite mobile application. The company previously announced that Elite would receive "free custom iOS and Android applications for smartphones and tablets," but the app didn't launch with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as planned.
Activision has now posted a new FAQ that says the mobile app is on hold until the Call of Duty Elite service is "stable."
"Since we do not want to add even more stress to the back-end servers, we are holding back on launching the Elite mobile applications until the service is stable and our players can easily access it," Activision wrote. "All Elite services share the same login and data infrastructure, and are equally impacted by the capacity issues."
This comes following reports of high demand stalling subscriptions, which led to a free thirty day extension of the service. This is the second version of Elite to be delayed, following an announcement about the PC version earlier this month.
Activision added that it "will have the apps ready to launch as soon as we are comfortable the experience will be a great one, and will update with more information soon."
