So yeah, if there was one thing I had a huge problem with high school it was that I had to take classes I didn't want to take.

So now that I have entered college, I thought I could take classes relating to my degree and get out. But as I signed up for my computer analyst course, I have to either take psychology or a sociology elective.

WTF does psychology or sociology have to do with computers?! 11,000 dollars is being spent for me to be in college and I have to take classes I don't give a damn about or relating to my soon to be profession.

life is to short to do things you don't care about. Am I right or am I right?

Actually I'm an art/archeology double major and I have to take either one of those classes, they're considered core classes, that every student should take. Once your cores are completed you can take any electives you want.

I had to take Accounting, and Business Writing when I took my Information Certificate at a Community College. But, luckily the two class was only 2 months. Although, I did learn about accounting software, and writing business e-mails to the boss.

I´m looking forward to college, but already nervous. Still got 3-4 years however. I ıntend to major in Psychology, and minor in Law (if this is possible).

You guys have it bad there like. Here for College I think it is just one course (don't know for sure as I skipped college and am going straight for uni) and then at uni you pick your subject and then all the minor subjects or modules you do are all relevant and then when second year rolls around you pick additional courses that are all different but all relevant to your course. None of this 2 unrelated subject bullshit you guys have

You guys have college and universıty? What?

And I don´t really care if I have to take other coures. What doesn´t kill me makes me smarter.

Yeah we go Primary School (age 5-11) and then you go to secondary/high school which is compulsory for 4 years and then you can do a further 2 optional years there. After that if you don't have the qualifications to go to university you can do a 1 or 2 year college course which will grant you qualifications similar to those you can get in the last year of high school and then you go to university for about 4-7 years depending on your course.

Same for me, we have colleges and Universities, but college is more suited for people with jobs, or don't have enough money to afford university. University is more expensive in Canada compared to colleges, and they force you to take 4-5 courses per 3 month term otherwise you are kicked out. You also have to maintain a B Average or higher in Universities.

College just requires you to show up for class and maintain a C-,C, and C+ average depending on how strict they are. You can also only take 1-2 classes per semester. Some people in College just go to college to take a 1-2 year certificate for jobs like nursing, technical support, web design, graphic designer, dental assistant, or Associates degree. Some people go to college to get enough credits to enter second year university if they have enough credits and good grades.

Technical schools, community colleges and career colleges are also getting more popular for people who just want to learn the skills needed for their job as an auto mechanic, butchers, computer technician, secretary, medical assistant, and dental assistant. They are also usually a lot cheaper then University and colleges in Canada if it is ran by the government.

In university you get several modules per semester and all you need to do is pass them all to stay in uni and your degree depends on how well you do. I think college is the same but since it's only a year there is only 1 set of exams. University you have module tests then a final exam.

we got colleges and universities in my town as well.

and one of our colleges was blessed by Pope Benedict XVI.

Cool! Wonder why I never heard that...I'm so out of touch with my faith news....haha

Well I'm going to one my state universities there's like five for my state alone. I don't mind having to take most of my core classes, I wish I could get out of english and math though, I hate those.

well I'm three months in college now, give or take a week or two. and I still stand by my words, college is no different. But I do like that if teachers get sick, no class!

but I laugh a lot during my school, kids are still bitching about being in school and all I think is that there paying more then 10k+ to be here.

You can use Psy to make a computer program about Psy, or make computer programs easier to use and more Addictive with the stuff you learn in Psy.

I bet Facebook, YouTube, Zynga and other websites uses Psy to make their sites more easier to use, and more addictive to some people.
