  • Direct is the week of Jun 8th
  • Lots of third party games still need to be announced
  • it's a General Direct
  • they won't "bring everything," but rather it will be a more "grounded" direct. They will show us games coming later this year and early next. He is tempering expectations.
  • anything coming in 2027 probably won't be in this direct besides maybe a tease
  • they need to show us things before the price increase
  • Nintendo won't pull September Direct announcements forward to June because of the price increase coming. They aren't reactionary, they will stick to the plan.
  • Nintendo has changed/evolved the way they communicate announcements (like Splatoon and Rhythm Heaven were given dates on social media), but FE is seemingly being held for a Direct.
  • hasn't heard anything new on FE4 remake or robobot
  • hasn't heard anything about a new Paper Mario game but he's sure they're probably working on one
  • hasn't heard of any further Wii U ports or remasters
  • He will have a separate Nintendo Direct predictions video ahead of the Direct next week

Nintendo has announced a period of network maintenance for the Nintendo Store on June 9, a development that is adding further credibility to recent reports suggesting a new Nintendo Direct presentation is set to take place the same day.

According to Nintendo’s official maintenance notice, network maintenance related to the Nintendo Store will be conducted from approximately 02:00 to 07:00 on June 9. The company warned that services may be unavailable during the maintenance window.

The timing has drawn attention because it closely aligns with a recent report from industry insider Jeff Grubb, who claimed that Nintendo is preparing a new Direct presentation for Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

During an episode of the Last of the Nintendogs podcast on the Game Mess YouTube channel, Grubb said, “I’ve heard Tuesday, next Tuesday.” He added that he would specifically “say Tuesday morning,” while acknowledging that scheduling details can occasionally become unclear due to time zone differences.

My guess is it'll be a Smash Ultimate Switch 2 version with added stages/characters.

What I'm really curious about is if they'll actually show the Ocarina of Time remake. I really want this to be true.

They ABSOLUTELY did pull announcements forward. Nate the Hate's leak was so heavy, that it spoiled the surprise. I think this OOT reveal was a rush, a last-minute decision. I think this reveal was intended as a surprise stealth drop. Like the Metroid Prime Remastered announcement.

I think that OOT's reveal was supposed to be a surprise "one more thing" announcement to sell more Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. Likely a reaction to Game Key Card, Nintendo Switch 2 price increase, and the OOT leak. And it was supposed to launch the same day as the announcement, like Metroid Prime Remastered. Like - "Here you go, go buy Ocarina of Time today, as you're watching this direct."

They HAVE a release date in mind. Not that "2026" placeholder, which tells me this was intended as a September Nintendo Direct game.

Very possible, that leak did kill some momentum for Nintendo.
