So if you were a forum owner or someone who posts there and saw a Controversial topic, would you allow it or post in it?
easily, always have a policy aginst illegal activites.froggyboy604 said:I think if the controversial thread is about supporting illegal crimes, or helping people commit crimes, it is best to delete it because your domain name, web hosting, and website may get seized by the government for breaking the law.
For controversial threads which are not illegal, it is better to make a forum like debate forums.
I think enforcing a policy for illegal content is easier to do on a small to medium size site, and much harder on huge sites like 4chan, and Reddit.Demon_Skeith said:easily, always have a policy aginst illegal activites.
Actually, according to him, he didn't actually retire. He is taking a long vacation and assigned several moderators to take care of the site. He also asked the mods to give him their personal info (name, addresses etc.), which is pretty weird considering we're talking about 4chan, which is known for supporting anonymity.froggyboy604 said:I think enforcing a policy for illegal content is easier to do on a small to medium size site, and much harder on huge sites like 4chan, and Reddit.
I read on http://readwrite.com/2015/01/21/moot-retires-from-4chan that owner of 4chan recently retired from 4chan. I bet one of the reason the owner of 4chan retired is because it is too hard to control such a big community where people post illegal activities even though there are policy. Plus, running 4chan must be a very hard job since there are so many members where you need a lot of mods, and admins to moderate posts.
Hopefully, he has a nice long vacation. Maybe his mods are being paid money where you need their names, address, etc for writing checks, and taxes. It is probably better to meet with your mods or know them better in real life before handing over the control of a giant site like 4chan.alakazam said:Actually, according to him, he didn't actually retire. As for controversial threads, yes, I allow them on my forum, provided they don't break the laws of the state in which it is hosted. My hosting company is located in a country that supports free speech. No. Not the USA. :evil lol:
