Yeah I just about sort of noticed that the other day when I was trying to emotionally express myself about something in such a way that only a certain type of emoticon could express! In those cases, I can fully understand and appreciate where OP is coming from. And well, it just goes with the territory doesn't it? I mean, we are living in that
emoticon generation. A generation where people have used them for as long as they've lived, emoticons are so deeply integrated into our modern lives and culture and are synonymous with forums, blogs, chat rooms etc on desktop and mobile devices. But that said, emoticons can also be quite awkward at times too lol. Like when you don't have the right one to express yourself with! It's becoming a real problem lol..
And our generation is one that is forever coming up with ever more shorter and shorter ways to express itself! They say 15 years ago people's attention span was about 10 seconds, now it's only about 6 seconds which is really worrying if you do the math! If you do, it basically says that in another 30 years, that will only be about 1 second. Crazy. One that doesn't login with passwords and keyboards but uses voice recognition and mind caps and brain chips to control the Internet, do stuff and and get around. But also one where emoticons and "meme's" will probably still be used, (and we all love meme's) and will always be treasured with a seemingly slight feeling of light to moderated hearted humor and a sense of trepidation which can't help but make you think, where would be today, and would we have got where we are if it wasn't for emoticons? You know?
