Before Crackdown came out, everybody viewed it as the $60 entry fee into the included Halo 3 beta. After those people got their hands on it, everyone realized they'd been duped into buying a quality action game. Now a new studio called Ruffian, comprised of many people that worked on the first game, has the pressure of living up to the high bar set by the original developer, RealTime Worlds. Funny how success breeds more pressure to succeed, isn't it? After getting my hands on Crackdown 2 for the first time and seeing which direction the sequel is headed in, Ruffian appears up to the challenge.
The story goes like this: In the first Crackdown game, one your actions caused a chain reaction that has nearly destroyed the city. It seems that by assaulting a research facility, you've let loose an infected bunch of freaks which now run rampant throughout the city. During the daytime, the struggling survivors scavenge for whatever tools or goods they can find in the hopes of preparing themselves for the night. They mostly come out at night. Mostly.
