Craigslist has finally spoken: The 'Adult Services' section is gone for good.

Craigslist made headlines earlier this month when it responded to pressure from several attorneys general and shut down its adult services section. Though Craigslist made the change without fanfare, it didn't go unnoticed and the fact that Craigslist remained quiet about the subject had people talking even more.
This week the site broke its silence. Speaking at a congressional hearing held by the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security, Craigslist's director of customer service and law enforcement relations, William Clint Powell, said that his company had "no plans to reinstate the category."
However, despite this declaration, Powell said that Craigslist won't be shutting down the adult services sections for other countries just yet.
"It's my understanding that there are a number of issues country by country as well as legal issues for that," the AFP cites Powell as saying.
Craigslist is said to be working with Canadian authorities but Elizabeth McDougall, a counsel to the site there had been no request from Canada to remove adult services ads there.
"They are a sovereign nation," she told the committee. "We don't believe that it's appropriate for the US policy to dictate what Canada's policy should be with respect to the Craigslist website and adult services."
