The long awaited return of classic Sony characters may finally be near.
In a recent interview with the Telegraph, Sony President Andrew House left open the possibility that Sony would revive Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. “In concept, it is something we’ve been thinking about and discussing, and this is a shift for us. We’ve started to say that maybe there isn’t anything wrong with going back and looking at characters that people still talk about, that were a big part of their childhood or their youth. I definitely wouldn’t close the door on that,” said House.
Crash Bandicoot hit the shelves back in 1996, followed by three more Crash games on the original PlayStation. The franchise was sold to Activision in the early 2000’s, with the last game appearing in 2008 on PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS.
Last year, there was speculation that Sony purchased Crash from Activision, but an Activision spokesperson denied the rumors.
